Learning objectives
After working through these five items, you should be able to explain how each change affects everyday use of Microsoft 365 tools.
- 01Explain how Copilot Chat history filtering by experience changes how users navigate previous conversations.
- 02Describe the three enhancements to Teams AI Interpreter's Simultaneous mode and what each one improves.
- 03Identify the two GPT-5.5 model variants now rolling out in M365 Copilot and when each is most useful.
- 04Explain how Teams Facilitator's question-detection feature works during a live meeting.
- 05Describe what Copilot Notebook Mind Maps do and which apps they are available in.
Copilot Chat History Now Filtered by Experience
Microsoft is scoping Copilot Chat history to the current Copilot endpoint by default, so users see only conversations relevant to where they are working. An All Chats view is also available. This rolls out to general availability in June 2026.
Teams AI Interpreter Gets Three Simultaneous Mode Upgrades
Microsoft is updating Teams AI Interpreter's Simultaneous mode with three changes: captions and audio now use the same language the user selects; admins can fully disable voice simulation; and dynamic voice assignment helps listeners distinguish between speakers. GA is set for July 2026.
GPT-5.5 Is Rolling Out in Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft has begun rolling out two GPT-5.5 model variants inside M365 Copilot. GPT-5.5 Instant targets faster, more concise everyday responses with better image analysis. GPT-5.5 Thinking is designed for multistep reasoning and structured analysis. Both are available in Copilot Chat, with priority access for licensed users.
Teams Facilitator Detects Unanswered Questions Mid-Meeting
Teams Facilitator will automatically detect open questions raised during meetings and prompt participants to let it search for an answer. If a participant selects Yes, Facilitator retrieves and posts the information in the meeting chat. GA is set for July 2026.
Mind Maps Land in Copilot Notebooks for OneNote and M365
Copilot Notebooks now includes interactive Mind Maps that visualise key topics, themes, and relationships within a notebook. Users can explore nodes, view summaries, and dig deeper through Notebook chat. Available across OneNote and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, with general availability in May 2026.
Chat history is now scoped to the current Copilot endpoint by default, with an All Chats view available. GA: June 2026.
