Cookie Notice

What cookies this site sets, and how to control them. This notice applies to craigstanley.work and complies with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

PECR compliant Effective: 25 May 2026
01 — What Are Cookies

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They serve a range of purposes — from keeping a form session alive to remembering your preferences, or tracking your behaviour across sites.

This site uses strictly necessary cookies for form functionality and, if you choose to accept them, analytics cookies from Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics. No advertising or marketing cookies are used.

02 — Your Consent Choice

Your Consent Choice

When you first visit this site, a banner asks whether you want to accept analytics cookies. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) under the key cs-consent-v2.

  • If you accept: Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics are loaded. They collect the data described below.
  • If you decline: Neither analytics tool is loaded. Only the strictly necessary Netlify session cookie is set.

To withdraw consent or change your choice, clear your browser's local storage for craigstanley.work (browser settings → Storage or Site data → craigstanley.work → delete). The banner will reappear on your next visit.

03 — Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the site to function. They do not track you and do not require your consent under PECR.

Netlify session / form cookie

Cookie name __netlify_form_token (or similar session identifier set by Netlify's infrastructure — the exact name may vary)

Set by Netlify Inc. (site host) — first party in context of this site

Category Strictly necessary

Purpose Maintains session state required for the contact form to submit correctly. Prevents duplicate submissions and supports form security (CSRF protection).

Duration Session cookie — deleted when you close your browser.

Consent required? No. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the PECR consent requirement.

04 — Microsoft Clarity (Analytics — Consent Required)

Microsoft Clarity

Microsoft Clarity is a behavioural analytics tool that records how visitors interact with the site — including session replays, heatmaps, and click maps. It is loaded only if you accept analytics via the consent banner.

Clarity session cookie

Cookie names _clck (user ID, persistent, ~1 year), _clsk (session token, ~24 hours), MUID (Microsoft user ID, persistent, ~13 months)

Set by Microsoft Corporation — third party (clarity.ms)

Category Analytics

Purpose Identifies sessions and users to enable session recording, heatmap generation, and behavioural analytics. Clarity custom identifiers are hashed on the client before being sent to Clarity servers.

Duration _clck: ~1 year · _clsk: ~24 hours · MUID: ~13 months

Consent required? Yes — loaded only after analytics consent is accepted.

05 — Google Analytics (Analytics — Consent Required)

Google Analytics

Google Analytics collects aggregated data about how visitors reach and use the site — page views, session duration, traffic sources, and device information. It is loaded only if you accept analytics via the consent banner.

Google Analytics cookies

Cookie names _ga (client identifier, ~2 years), _ga_JPY77E8LXT (session state for this property, ~2 years)

Set by Google LLC — third party (google-analytics.com / googletagmanager.com)

Category Analytics

Purpose Distinguishes users and sessions; measures traffic, page views, and engagement. GA4 automatically anonymises IP addresses before storage. No advertising features are enabled on this property — data is not used for ad targeting or cross-site tracking.

Duration _ga: ~2 years · _ga_JPY77E8LXT: ~2 years

Consent required? Yes — GA4 scripts and cookies are loaded only after you accept analytics via the consent banner. Declining means no Google Analytics cookies are placed.

06 — YouTube Video Embeds

YouTube Video Embeds

The video page embeds YouTube playlists and videos using the youtube-nocookie.com domain. This is YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode.

Using youtube-nocookie.com means that YouTube does not set cookies on your device when the page loads. No cookie is placed before you interact with the player.

If you press play on an embedded video, YouTube may then set functional cookies on your device. These cookies are set and controlled by Google/YouTube, not by Craig Stanley Studio. At that point, YouTube's own cookie and privacy policies apply.

YouTube functional cookies (on play)

Cookie names Examples include VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC, PREF — set by Google/YouTube (full list: policies.google.com/technologies/cookies)

Set by Google LLC / YouTube (third party)

Category Functional / Analytics (set and governed by Google, not Craig Stanley Studio)

Purpose Player preferences, playback position, volume settings. May also be used by Google for personalisation and analytics under YouTube's own policies.

Triggered by User pressing play — not on page load.

Duration Varies — some are session cookies, some persist. Refer to Google's cookie policy.

Consent required? Because the youtube-nocookie.com domain is used and no cookie is set before you choose to play, no consent banner is required at page load under current ICO guidance. If you do not want these cookies, do not interact with the embedded players.
