- Windows hybrid intelligence (7 Oct). At its Windows AI and Surface event in San Francisco, Microsoft said Copilot on Copilot+ PCs will gain local context (files, recent activity), local actions across Windows (organising files, diagnostics, troubleshooting, coding, workflows) and local models alongside cloud models, with user permission. Rollout is expected “in the coming months”. Windows Experience Blog · Microsoft Source EMEA. Press coverage: The Verge reports a new Windows search with quick actions arriving on Windows 11 “this fall”, and an Autopilot demo that gathered tax documents, zipped them and drafted an email. - GitHub Copilot local models and sandboxed tools (7 Oct). Auto orchestration between local and cloud inference (coming by the end of October) and explicit local-model selection, e.g. MAI Code 1.1 Flash through the Windows ML provider or any OpenAI-compatible local endpoint. Tools run sandboxed via MXC. Microsoft Command Line.
- Microsoft Execution Containers GA (7 Oct). An OS-level runtime applying policy-driven restrictions to agent file, network, UI and session access, GA on Windows 11 and Windows 365. Transcript themes
4 new videos; batch notes in transcripts/runs/2026-10-08.md. Publish dates are derived from YouTube relative times and may be off by about a day.
- Agent cost (TokenOps). Reasoning sits in output tokens (about five times base input cost); cached input is about a tenth. Uncached input cost rises on a quadratic curve as agents loop: 40 turns instead of 10 costs 16 times, not four. Proposes an agentic efficiency score from autonomous completion, token efficiency and value generation ratios.
- Database FinOps. Azure savings plans for databases: a one- or three-year hourly spend commitment not tied to tier, configuration or region; overage billed at pay-as-you-go; the commitment is billed every hour whether used or not.
