Cowork was already on. The shelf is new.

Abstract print on warm paper.

It is easy to brief September as the month Cowork arrived. It did not. Microsoft made Copilot Cowork generally available on 16 June 2026. The 25 September change puts Cowork inside the redesigned Home experience, next to Chat, and connects it to newer app-building paths. People who missed June do not need a launch party. They need one task.

Teach a bounded assignment

Cowork is for a job with an end: a pack, a comparison, a chase through material the person is allowed to open. It is not a better way to ask a single question. If your training starts with 'ask it anything', you will teach Chat by accident and then wonder why the delegated work never shows up.

Access is still a condition

General availability does not mean every tenant has switched usage-based billing on. Microsoft says those enterprise services stay off until an administrator sets a spending policy. A class full of people who cannot open Cowork is not a skills problem. Check the policy before you write the exercise.

Do not replay someone else's morning

Microsoft's reported sales example, a week of review becoming a morning, is not your curriculum. FrontierOrg, fiction, will only pilot a workflow with a named owner and a baseline. You can do the smaller version: one assignment, one person, a before and after that you observed.

Monday

Confirm Cowork opens for the people in the session. Then give them one assignment they already do, with a source set small enough to check in the same sitting.

What will you stop calling a launch, now that the feature has been available since June?

Where this note mentions FrontierOrg, that is a fictional method for rehearsing a decision. It is not a company, not a client, and not a case study.
