In short
This is the first edition, so it covers 11 days rather than a week: the oldest copy of the feed I'd saved is from 10 October 2026, and this one is from 21 October.
The biggest change is underneath Copilot rather than in it. Ten new Work IQ items describe what agents will be able to do with Microsoft 365 content: retrieve it, upload to it, edit Office documents, read Teams transcripts in real time, pause for a person's approval, and be governed by admin policy. Microsoft targets October 2026 to January 2027 for these, and all ten are still in development. Security is following Cowork closely: Purview Data Loss Prevention for Cowork has moved to rolling out, and a new item extends DLP administrative units to Copilot, Copilot Chat and Cowork.
Dates only went one way. All 17 date moves (on 15 items) were later, none earlier, and six of them are on Purview items, including the Purview SDK for Agent Framework (September 2026 to March 2027) and the Compliance Manager link with Foundry (October 2026 to January 2027). Two Copilot items were cancelled. More than half the new items (31 of 54) are Dynamics 365 and Power Platform, many already marked as launched in June to August 2026, which looks like release-plan items arriving in the feed late rather than new work.
What stood out
Human in the loop
Agents and agent flows will be able to stop and wait for a person to approve before carrying on. It matches what I argue for in the Decisions section: a decision with a named person at the point where it matters. Targeted for January 2027.
Agent Policy Governance
Policy-based controls for agents and what they can do, at scale. Read alongside the Agent 365 reporting item below, it suggests Microsoft is treating agents as something admins manage like users and apps. Targeted for January 2027.
Data Loss Prevention for Microsoft Cowork
One DLP policy can now cover Microsoft 365 Copilot and Cowork, blocking prompts with sensitive information and labelled knowledge sources. If you are giving people Cowork through a spending policy, this is the matching data control. Moved from in development to rolling out.
Copilot Analytics - Agent 365 reporting availability for Microsoft platform agents
Agent insights in the Agent 365 dashboard in Viva Insights without an Agent 365 licence, for agents built on Microsoft platforms, including who built each one and why. Useful for the weekly cost review if it arrives as described. Targeted for October 2026 and still in development.
Support for sensitive documents protected with Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MPIP)
Copilot Studio agents in the Microsoft 365 channel will accept files with Purview sensitivity labels and keep the label protections in force. Microsoft describes it as unblocking those uploads, so a labelled file is a reason some work can't go through an agent today. Targeted for October 2026.
Purview SDK embedded in Agent Framework SDK
The biggest single slip: general availability moved six months, from September 2026 to March 2027. Anyone planning to build Purview controls into custom agents with the Agent Framework SDK this year should re-plan.
Agent chat web part
A SharePoint web part that can host any Microsoft 365 Copilot agent on a page. It ties into the open question in my learning ledger about what the SharePoint agents upgrade changes. Targeted for January 2027.

How this is made
Every Monday a script saves a copy of Microsoft's Microsoft 365 roadmap RSS feed and compares it with the copy from the week before. It keeps the items about Copilot, agents and the AI services around them: any item whose product is Copilot, Copilot Studio, Work IQ, Agent 365 or Foundry, and any item whose title mentions Copilot, agents, AI, Cowork, Facilitator or Researcher. That catches some Dynamics 365 and security items too, which I've left in and grouped separately.
The lists are the comparison, unedited: items that are new to the feed, items whose status changed, items whose general availability or preview month moved, and items that have left the feed. The summary and "What stood out" are mine, written from the feed items. Microsoft removes items from the roadmap some time after they launch, so most of what leaves is finished work, not cancelled work; the last status I saw is shown on each one.
Dates are Microsoft's targets, written as months, and they move often. Check the roadmap ID on microsoft.com before you plan training or a budget around one. The same data, searchable, is in the roadmap explorer.
